Chartrand, Lawrence CASTLETON Lawrence A. Chartrand, 89, of Castleton, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at home. Lawrence was born in Croghan, N.Y. He retired in 1986 as a welder/mechanic for Operating Engineers after 40 plus years of service. Lawrence was an Army veteran of World War II. He enjoyed winters in Florida and was an avid hunter and fisherman his whole life. Lawrence was a member of the Rensselaer Lodge of Elks # 2073. Predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Davey; siblings, Peter, Paul, Florence, Gerald, Clifford, Angeline, Cecilia, Rita, Paul, and Francis. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Barbara A.Chartrand; one daughter, Debra (Gary) Hebert; son-in-law, Rick Davey; brother, Raymond (Deloris) Chartrand; three granddaughters, Kim (Chris) Morris, Kristen (Jim) Britt and Amy (Robert) Fonda; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Joseph, Dawson, Carley, Hayley and Jorden; and niece Rosemary Campney and nephew Bruce (Kathy), who he lived with for many years. He is also survived by many more nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer and 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Friends may call in the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.
