Larkin, Mary A. WATERVLIET Mary Agnes Collins Larkin, 91, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush. Born in Troy on September 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Timothy L. and Emma Ryan Collins. Mary was a 1939 graduate of Catholic Central High School and later graduated from Mildred Elley Business School which was still run by Mildred Elley. She was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II where she met her husband and corresponded with him when he went off to war to serve his country. She later was employed by the New York State Workers Compensation Board for 17 years before retiring in 1981. She resided in Troy, Albany and last in Watervliet at the Daniel P. Quinn Apartments since 1999. She was a former member of the East Side Seniors in Troy and the Adoration Society of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Troy. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and currently the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet. She lived on her own in her apartment in Watervliet until this past November. She was the wife of the late William E. Larkin who died in 1981; beloved mother of Barbara A. Severance of Watervliet, M. Karen (Paul) Galough of Melrose, Timothy C. Larkin of San Francisco, Calif., Michael H. Larkin of Waterford and the late Gene J. Larkin who died in 1995; dear sister of T. Leo Collins of Loudonville, Ann T. Collins of Ballston Lake, C. Ruth Manny of Watervliet and M. Doris Collins of Ballston Lake; adored grandmother of Joseph R. Severance of Rensselaer, Matthew W. Severance of Maplewood, Julie A. Severance of Waterford, Scott P. (Eileen) Galough of Selkirk, Bryan T. (Jennifer) Galough of Amsterdam, Kasey M. Larkin and Emma G. Larkin both of Waterford; great-grandmother of Matthew and Timothy Severance, William, Ella and Emily Galough; great-great- grandmother (Triple G) of Alize' Severance and Matthew Severance III. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the amazing staff at the Van Rensselaer Manor for the wonderful care given to our mother, and to Community Hospice staff for all the love and support given to mom and the family. The funeral will be Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 12 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, South Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday at the funeral home prior to the Mass from 10 -11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Food Pantry, 2416 7th Ave., Watervliet, NY 12189.
