Becker, Freida "Fritzi" Demsky SCHENECTADY Freida "Fritzi" Demsky Becker, age 96, of Schenectady, died Sunday morning, September 20, 2015, at her residence. Born in Amsterdam, Fritzi was the daughter of the late Harry and Bryna Singlair Demsky. She was an Albany resident most of her life and retired as the manager of the former David's Clothing Stores with locations in Albany and Niskayuna. Freida was a member of Hadassah as well as Temple Israel in Albany. Frieda was married to Harold "Hunky" Becker until his passing in 1992. Loving mother of Gary Becker and his partner, Jack Cadalso Jr. of Albany, David Becker and his wife, Judy Coyne- Becker also of Albany, and Barbara Becker of of Chicago. Sister of Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne of Beverly Hills, Calif. and Ida Sahr of Schenectady. Grandmother of Michael and Monica Embrey. Freida also leaves many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Betty Simon, Ruth Greenstein, Marion Byck and Kay Goodman. Services at the Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., Albany, on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland. Those wishing to remember Freida in a special way may make a memorial contribution to the Harold J. Becker Fund at Temple Israel in Albany, 600 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208. I'm so sad to hear about Fritzi. I just found out from Suzie. I was so privileged to know her. I am in shock!

To Fritzi's Dear Family: There are some people in life who add sunshine and sparkle to a room by their presence and make people feel glad to be around them. Fritzi was one of those people. She was so loved at Kingsway by many of the staff, we being two of them. We will never forget her loveable nature. May she rest in peace. Phyllis and Stanley Weaver

I was just informed of Fritzies passing this morning and my heart is broken...I absolutly adored your mother at Kingsway Village in the salon...she made my Fridays complete and she will be so very missed...please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers...

Your mother was my first boss at Davids . She was one of two wonderful bosses I every had and was a wonderful friend too. She took me under her wing and when my father died at the age of 48, she generously took my sisters and mother in to be sure we had the appropriate attire for the funeral.She was a kind caring person who always was there for anyone in need. She loved her family and I certainly remember all of you going through college and especially when you would be home and she would be so excited you were coming in the store. Your father too was a wonderful guy and we at the store would await his quiet arrival to sit in the shoe department with his pipe--we knew then soon it was time for all of us to go home. I had the pleasure of being in touch with your mother at Kingsway last year. I am so happy to have had the opportinuity to tell her all she meant to me, my carreer and my family.Kirk Dougals was not the only star in your family!!!!!
