Edward J. Czelusniak

Czelusniak, Edward J. SCHENECTADY Edward J. Czelusniak, 79, of Schenectady, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 surrounded by his family. Born in Amsterdam on June 5, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (nee: Dlugolacki) Czelusniak. He was raised and educated in Amsterdam and a graduate of Amsterdam High School. Ed proudly served with the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his service in the military, Ed went to work for General Electric Co. in Schenectady where he furthered his education in the apprentice program and worked as a toolmaker. Later, he attended Union College and eventually became a teacher for General Electric's Apprentice Program. He worked for over 37 years and retired as a manufacturing engineer in 1990. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the Elfun Society and a member of the Turbine Supervisors. Ed was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady for over 45 years. Married on January 4, 1958, Ed is survived by his wife, Nancy (nee: Harzewski) Czelusniak. He is also survived by two sons, James (Katherine) Czelusniak of Malta, David Czelusniak of Mount Dora, Fla.; his daughter, Gail Czelusniak of Guilderland; his brother, Richard (Elizabeth) Czelusniak of Chilhowie, Va.; his sister, Mary Ann Celmer of Dillon, S.C.; four grandchildren, Anne and Jennifer Czelusniak of Malta and Matthew and Emily Czelusniak of Mount Dora; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by a sister, Clara Kolacki. The family would like to express their appreciation to Ellis Hospital for the kind and gentle care of Ed and the family during this time. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 2777 Albany St., Schenectady. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
