Meletis, Helen ALBANY Helen Meletis passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany. Born in Vresthena, Greece, she was the daughter of the late George and Gianoula Lembesis. Helen came to the US in 1951 and became a US citizen to join her family in N.Y. and retained her citizenship in 1956. She worked for many years at the Cohoes Garment Company, where she enjoyed fulfilling her artistic expression as a seamstress until retiring in 1970. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to her husband, family, church and her strong faith in God. Helen is predeceased by her loving husband, George Meletis. She is survived by her children, Anastasios and Maria Meletis of Albany; brother, John (Florence) Lembesis of Poughkeepsie; three nephews, George (Maureen) Lembesis of Pleasant Valley, N.Y., Peter Lembesis of Vancouver, Canada and Anthony (Stacy) Lembesis of Pleasant Valley; and niece, Chloe Lembesis. Funeral service will be Saturday 10 a.m., May 15, 2010 at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Road, Albany. Relatives and friends are also invited to call Friday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Tebbutt Funeral Home, 633 Central Avenue, Albany.
