Walsh, Rose MECHANICVILLE Mrs. Rose Marcella Walsh, 90, a former longtime resident of Mechanicville, died Monday, August 2, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, April 13, 1920, daughter of the late George and Mary Simiele Marcella, Rose was the wife for 34 years of the late Phillip H. Walsh who died in 1982. Rose worked at the Boston and Maine Railroad during World War II, in Mechanicville and retired from the Stevens and Thompson's Paper Co. in Mechanicville in 1982, after 16 years. A faithful member of the Mechanicville United Methodist Church, Rose's whole life was a testament to devotion and service to her family. Everything she did was motivated by a deep caring and concern for others. Her kind and thoughtful deeds will forever be remembered. Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Leo) Lichtig of Latham; grandchildren, Brielle (Dan) McCarthy of Latham and Danica Lichtig of Latham; two great-grandsons, Joshua and Samuel; stepchildren, Phillip (Lois) Walsh Jr. of Ballston Spa, Maureen Patenaude of Stillwater, Michael (Vivian) Walsh of Mechanicville, Majiel (Ralph) Costanzo of Michigan; 17 step- grand and several step-great- grandchildren. Also sisters, Alice Duffney of Green Island, Josephine Bestor of Massena, Tessie Vines of Pa. and a brother, Daniel Marcella of Mechanic-ville; along with nieces, nephews; and friends. Rose was also predeceased by her sisters, Angie Delano and Mary Capeci, and brothers, Henry, Vincent and John Marcella. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
