Rivers, Frances Sophie LOUDONVILLE Frances S. Rivers died August 9, 2010 at home. She was the daughter of the late Frances and Roy Samarija and lived in the Albany area most of her life. Sophie worked for the New York Telephone Company, Albany Police Department and the NYS Depart-ment of Health. She was communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for more than 60 years. Sophie enjoyed dogs, country music and NASCAR. Most of all, she was very family-oriented and loved spending time with her two cherished grandchildren. Sophie was married 47 years to Leo J. Rivers Sr. until his passing in 1998. She is survived by three sons, Leo J. Rivers Jr. and Thomas S. Rivers of Loudonville, Jacob (Ruth) Rivers of Colonie and a daughter, Frances (John) Reed of Colonie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob Rivers Jr. and Katie Rivers. She is the beloved sister of Elizabeth Hornsby of Schenectady, Mary Whitford of Cana-joharie, Katherine Gilligan of East Greenbush, Jacob Samarya of N.J., John Samarija and Amelia Boel of Castleton and the late Helen Sciotti and Anna Emery. She is the sister-in-law to Melvin Emery, Mary Samarya, Katina Samarija, Donald Boel and the late John Hornsby, Robert Gilligan, William Loring, Robert Whitford and Benjamin Sciotti. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights (Northern Blvd.) Albany, Thursday morning at 8:15 and 9 o'clock in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may also call at the funeral home Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
