Belanger, Ruth C. OCALA, Florida Ruth C. Belanger, formerly of Cohoes, Saratoga Springs, and Crop-seyville, N.Y., passed away on December 6, in Ocala, Fla. She suffered from several bouts with bacterial meningitis and MRSA and died in her sleep. She was loved by all who knew her. She loved reading, bowling, painting with acrylics and oils. Born and raised in Chicago, she enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1944, where she met her husband, Louis Roland Belanger. They were married in 1945, and had a son, Thomas, before Louis's untimely death in 1946, of war-related disease and pneumonia. After struggling to survive as a single parent in 1946, she remarried, and had two more sons, James and Mark. She also cared for three step-daughters, Anne, Judy, and Frances. While living in Cohoes and Cropseyville, she worked at Montgomery Wards in Menands. She was the only woman merchandiser working among 35 men. She is survived by her son Thomas who lives in Massachusetts, Mark who lives in New York, Judy Babish, in Wisconsin, and Anne Andrews in Pennsylvania. A ceremony will be held in the spring of 2011.
