Curran, Sean ALBANY Sean Curran, 76, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at home. Born in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, he was the son of the late John and Ellen Pollard Curran. He worked at the former Schaefer Brewery in Albany, and retired from OGS as a painter. He was a member of the Albany Ancient Order of Hibernians Father Henry Tansey, Division 5 and veteran of the Irish Armed Forces. Sean enjoyed hurling, fishing, horse racing, and trips back to Ireland. As a young boy he learned the bagpipes at the Clonmel Boys Club and later played in the Irish Armed Forces Pipe Band. He continued his passion for the bagpipes through teaching and playing. He loved nothing more than a good ol' sing-song He was the husband of the late Lorraine Curran; former husband of Mary C. Curran; father of Christina Drew (Larry), Sean Michael Curran, Maria Howell (Donald) and James Curran; beloved grandfather of Sara, Brendan, Ashley, Joseph, Stephen and Ryan; brother of Timmy Curran of Clonmel, Ireland, David Curran, Eileen Hanafin, Fr. Anthony Curran and the late Noel Curran and Mary Leach; many nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany, thence to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church) at 10:30 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, March 31, 2011 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment, Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
