Lansing, Carol GREEN ISLAND Carol Connery Lansing, 66, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Born in Green Island, daughter of the late Wilfred Connery and Carolyn Gillam Connery Shaftick, she was a lifelong resident of the community. Carol was a graduate of Heatly High School and had been employed at the former Bendix Corporation in Green Island before leaving her work to become a full time Mom and raise her family. She later became the administrative assistant at the office of admissions for Russell Sage College in Troy, where she worked for nearly two decades. Carol was an active and devoted communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church in Green Island and now Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. She was very active in her community, having served as a village trustee since 2006, secretary of the Green Island Industrial Agency, treasurer of the Green Island Senior Citizens Club and the Green Island Senior Housing and was a former member of the Green Island board of education. She was also a member of the Volkssporters walking group. As active as she was in her community, her greatest joy was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. Her family was her life and their appreciation for all she did for them and their boundless love for her will never fade. She is the beloved wife of Lawrence Lansing; devoted mother of Jill Lansing of Clifton Park, Carol Casale, Tina (Jason) Burns, Matthew (Kate) Lansing, all of Green Island and Mark (Erin) Lansing of Watervliet; cherished grandmother of Luke and Sheaden Burns, Carol Melina and Angelo Casale and Colin Lansing; dear sister of Eileen (William) Shepard and Thomas (Sandra) Connery, both of Green Island and the late Rosemary "Honey" Boehlke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet on Monday at 10 a.m. with an Honor Guard of officials and employees of the Village and Town of Green Island. Interment will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue in Green Island. Due to floral restrictions at the cemetery, in lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made, in memory of Carol, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in care of the funeral home.
