Coon, Mary E. STILLWATER Mrs. Mary E. Coon, 75, of Lake Street, died suddenly at home, Saturday, December 10, 2011, after being stricken of natural causes. Born and grown up in Mechanicville, April 5, 1936, daughter of the late William and Ruth Russom Johnson, she was also predeceased by her grandson, Edward Jesmain; son-in-law, Phillip Gaudette; and sister, Barbara Garland. Mary worked as a selector for the former Grand Union Warehouse in Waterford for 28 years, retiring in 1995. A member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, she was an elections inspector for the Town of Stillwater for many years, and a member of the Schaghticoke Womens Bowling league for years. Mary enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband, but most of all she loved to cook for and be with her large family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Edward C. Coon, whom she married May 22, 1953. Seven children, Janice (Bob) Jesmain and Patricia Gaudette both of Mechanicville, Nancy (Bruce) Bussing of Stillwater, Sheila (Bill) Ontkush of Mechanicville, Carol (Geoff) Brewster of Schuylerville, Edward (Annette) Coon Jr. and Daniel Coon both of Stillwater, 22 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Also survived by siblings, William Johnson of Stillwater and Janice Green of Scotia, along with nieces; nephews and their families. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, Wednesday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the , in loving memory of Mary E.
