Ruzzo, Patricia SCHENECTADY Patricia Ruzzo, 91, died peacefully on September 21, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born on January 5, 1921 in Fontechiari, Italy and was the daughter of the late Antonia and Filomena DiCocco. She and her parents emigrated to the United States in 1923. She was married for 53 years to the late Joseph G. Ruzzo, who passed away on August 29, 2006. Pat graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree from Russell Sage College and received her master's from SUNY Albany. She taught history at Linton High School for many years during which time she enriched and influenced the lives and minds of countless students. Throughout her life Pat continued her own education by traveling throughout the world to study and experience other cultures and history firsthand. She was an accomplished artist in Chinese brushstroke and bone china painting. Pat was the matriarch and emotional heart of her family. Leaving to mourn her death and celebrate her life are her three children and their spouses, Joseph and Nantana Ruzzo, Richard and Michele Ruzzo, Marilyn Ruzzo-Yonkers and Richard Yonkers; grandchildren, Richard (Bernice) Ruzzo, Margaret (David) Mustalish and Alaina Yonkers; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Parsons. She also has many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat was predeceased by her sister, Loreta (Catino) and her brothers, Antonio and Constantine DiCocco. The entire Ruzzo Family would like to express their deep appreciation to Schenectady County Hospice and the aides from Kingsway Home Health Care who made it possible for Pat to remain at home as was her wish. As a final act of love and generosity, Pat has donated her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College. A memorial service to honor Pat will be held on Friday, October 19 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in memory of Patricia Ruzzo be made to Schenectady County Hospice, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308.
