Barner, John C. SCHENECTADY Our beloved John "Buddy" Barner, age 81, of Schenectady, passed into eternal life with the Lord and his loved ones at Ellis Hospital, after a long illness on October 31, 2012. He was born in Jersey Shore, Pa., and graduated from Jersey Shore High School, Gaullaudet and Idaho University. As a very intelligent man and lover of education, he became a well known and respected teacher of the deaf and went on to retire. He is admired in the deaf community and as a devoted Catholic and last, but not least, known as a great dad. He was very well known for his sense of humor and making others laugh. He had a deep love and appreciation for animals and nature. He enjoyed his time with his beautiful granddaughters. John is survived by daughters, Susan (George), Balinda and Jane Barner; sister, Donnie Fryer of California; granddaughters, Brianna, Bethany, Bianca and Barbara; and nieces and nephews in California and Pennsylvania. Funeral service, Monday morning 8:30 from the Daly Funeral Home Inc., 242 McClellan St., Schenectady and 9 a.m. at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Church (formerly Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rosa Road, Schenectady). Calling hours, Sunday afternoon 4 to 6 in the evening at the funeral home. Interment, Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
