Franze, Francis J. ALBANY Francis J. Franze, 90, died November 10, 2012 at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Vincent and Susie Speciale Franze. Mr. Franze had a military career that spanned over 43 years. He was a US Army World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater and participated in the invasion of Okinawa. After his war service, he took a position as a civilian employee of the New York State National Guard. He served in various capacities, but most notably as a chief warrant officer in charge of logistics. He received numerous decorations and awards for both his active duty and civilian service. Mr. Franze was a member of the American Legion Zaloga Post #1520, Veterans of Foreign Wars Weininger Post #8692, Chief Warrant Officers Organization and the Knights of Columbus Council #173. He was the husband of the late Santa Theresa Maimone Franze; father of Jesse Wade and the late John Franze; grandfather of Shane and Misty O'Connor; brother of Anthony Franze, Salvatore Franze, the late Vincent and Ann Franze and Marion Iaia; brother-in-law of Kaoru Franze, Mary Franze and Dominic Maimone. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, now located at 208 North Allen St., Albany then to Christ Our light Church, 1 Maria Dr., Colonie, at 10 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
