DeChiro, Daniel J. ALBANY Daniel J. DeChiro, 60, formerly of Watervliet, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at his home following a long illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of Elizabeth Morrone DeChiro of Watervliet and the late John DeChiro. Dan was raised and educated in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School. He resided in Rochester for a number of years and while there was employed as a painter. For the past three years, Dan had lived in Albany. He enjoyed playing the guitar and will be remembered for his sense of humor. Dan will be missed by his family and friends. In addition to his mother, Dan is survived by his dear daughter, Jaclyn DeChiro of Albany; devoted sister, Carol DeChiro (Andrew Capoccia) of Watervliet; loving sister, Ree Slater (late Charles Slater) of Florida and special sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and Emilio D'Alessandro of Watervliet, as well as a niece, nephew and several cousins. Dan's family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the Albany Police Department for the care and compassion offered at the time of Dan's passing. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. A private interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Friends are invited and may also visit with Dan's family on Tuesday, before the service, from 5 until 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in Dan's memory.
