Dunn, James C. STILLWATER James C. Dunn, 64, of Hudson Ave., died Saturday morning, February 2, 2012 at his home, in the loving company of his family, after a courageous battle with colon cancer, spanning almost nine years. Born in Troy, September 11, 1948, son of Isabelle Moll Dunn of Clifton Park and the late prominent area funeral director, J. Dwight Dunn, Jim was a 1967 graduate of Mechanicville High School, where he was a trombonist with the school band. He then served in the US Navy from 1968-70, aboard the USS Richard E. Byrd of Norfolk, Va. Upon his discharge from military service, Jim got the job of his life, with the Boston and Maine Railroad, as a locomotive engineer for 34 years, retiring 2004. A member of Post 490 American Legion of Stillwater, Jim enjoyed his family and friends, had a quick wit and imposing personality. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife of 42 years, Beverly "Nay" Cowin Dunn; daughter and son-in-law Sheristin and John Tedesco; along with his beloved grandson, Johnny, all of Stillwater; his sister, Dian and Lawrence Dippold of Rexford and their children Cory (Michele) Dippold and Jessica (John) Hirliman. Also his Cowin family in-laws, Charles "Coke" Cowin, Wayne and Kathy Cowin, Elaine "Eff" (Mike Sullivan) Cowin; along with many loving nieces, nephews and their families. The entire Dunn family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Charles Weissman and Dr. Veena Goel for their care, concern and compassion shown to Jim and his family. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Stillwater United Church Food Pantry or the Stillwater Block House, in respectful memory of James C. Dunn. to leave condolences and for directions.
