Downs, Joseph MECHANICVILLE Joseph Siracusano Downs, 86, of Davenport Estates, died Tuesday evening, February 26, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Jamaica, N.Y., October 18, 1926, Joe served in the US Army's 458th Quarter master Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. A self-employed house painting contractor his whole life, Joe was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Malta. Joe was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to all his family. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Anna Murawski Downs; children, Alan (Bonnie) Murawski of Ballston Spa, Barbara Landi of Kingston, Chris Murawski of Buffalo and Eden (Larry) Fisher of Mechanicville, Kathy Collins, Sharon McDuffy, Ray Burkhart and Susan Haas. Also survived by a large number of grand and great-grandchildren. Joe was predeceased by his grandson, Joseph Fisher; sister, Katherine Fries; and brother, Marshall Siracusano. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the DeVito-Salvador Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors in Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the John Ahearn Rescue Squad in his memory. to leave condolences and for directions.
