Karwowski, Barbara CLIFTON PARK Barbara Mazza Karwowski, 69, of LaCosta Drive, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at home, after a long battle with ALS. Born in Northampton, N.H., August 15, 1943, she was daughter of the late Jerry and Helen Mazza. Barb was a graduate of St. Michael's Academy and North-ampton Community College, both of Northampton. Barb was a senior lab technician for the NYS Dept. of Health, in Albany for 31 years. While working, she was a former secretary and treasurer for the CSEA local in Albany, and was active in the AARP local of Shenendehowa. A member of the Women of the Moose and the Vegan Societies of Albany, Mid-Hudson and the Berkshires, and the Birchkill Arts and Crafts club of Troy. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Lou M. Karwowski; two brothers, Gerald (Cheryl) Mazza of New Hampshire and Larry (Joanne) Mazza of Cobleskill; along with niece and nephew, Luke and Julia. Barbara was also predeceased by her brother, Steven Mazza in 2007. Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. A Funeral and Burial service will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, 12866 in memory of Barbara Mazza Karwowski.
