Krajick, Dr. K. Michael COLONIE Dr. K. Michael Krajick, a podiatrist and surgeon who served several upstate New York communities, died suddenly at his home in Colonie, on March 27, 2013. He was 54. Karl Michael Krajick was born on August 8, 1958, at Benedictine Hospital in Kingston. He was part of a set of triplets, all of whom survived and were healthy a rarity at that time. His mother was Katherine S. Distin Krajick, a longtime Benedictine and U.S. Army nurse. His father was Army Maj. (retired) Rudolph A. Krajick, a combat officer in World War II and Korea, and later the lead building engineer for the IBM corporation in Kingston. As soon as he was able to talk, Krajick insisted on being called Mike, and discarded his first name. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1976. After finishing Albany College of Pharmacy in 1983, he worked for a time as a pharmacist around Kingston and Albany. He later resumed his education and got a degree from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, and completed a surgical residency at the U.S. Veterans Administration Hospital in Waco, Texas. He then opened a private practice in Niskayuna. He expanded the practice to the villages of Cobleskill and Delhi, west of Albany, driving long distances several days a week to treat patients in those rural communities. Krajick was well respected wherever he went, known for his outgoing ways, and generosity to family, friends and strangers, some of whom he treated without charge. He was active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the New York State Podiatric Medical Association. An avid collector of old records and comic books, he was also a lifelong player of competitive team sports; he had recently taken up weekend soccer with a league in Green Island in which most of the players were far younger than him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Helen Legnard Krajick; an older brother, Kevin R.(Ruby) Krajick of New York City and Broome; his triplet siblings, Kent G. (Sandy) Krajick of Unionville, Conn., and Karin M.(Richard) Hubbs of Kingston; he is the son-in-law of Mary Ellen (late Robert) Legnard of Green Island; brother-in-law of Robert (Nicole) Legnard, Michael (Erin) Legnard, Mary Beth (James) Cusack, all of Clifton Park and Kate (Frank) Rainville of Castleton; also survived by 14 cherished nieces and nephews.
