Alston, Rose M. ALBANY Rose M. Alston, 83, passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, at her home in Albany, Sunday, April 7, 2013. Born December 29, 1929, Rose was the daughter of the late Rose and Patsy Sardella. She lived her entire life in Albany. Rose was a homemaker but held several jobs at different times in her life. In order to send her sons to Christian Brothers Academy she took a job at St. Teresa of Avila as a noon hour aide. Later she was employed by the State Department of Taxation and Finance. Rose's family was her pride and joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and loving grandmother. Her three grandsons brought her so much happiness. She always looked forward to their visits. Rose could always be counted on to take care of relatives, especially Ellen and Jennie, her two sisters that lived with her for their entire lives. Rose had a special bond with her sister, Mary who was such an important part of her life. She had many fond memories of trips taken with Mary, Ron and Bill, Sr. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Bill Sr., whom she loved deeply and missed terribly. In addition, she was predeceased by her sisters, Ellen and Jennie Sardella. Rose is survived by her children, Bill, Jr. (Diane) of Delmar, John of Sacramento, Calif., Teresa of Albany; her cherished grandchildren, Jared, Brad and Corey Alston and her sister, Mary Edson (Ron, Sr.) of Fredericksburg, Va. Rose had a close relationship with many nieces and nephews who will miss her, Ron Jr., Mark and Scott Edson , Karen Lybert and Chip Bowles. Rose was fortunate to have her daughter Teresa take such good care of her over the years. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Magin & Keegan Funeral Home, 891 Madison Avenue, Albany Thursday 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Mater Christi Church , Albany.
