R. Redmond Obituary

Redmond, R. Graham DELMAR R. Graham Redmond passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 after a long battle with squamous cell cancer. He was born in Rochester, to Susan Virginia Graham Redmond and Charles Redmond on August 8, 1951 but lived most of his life in Delmar. Mr. Redmond was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. where he was also a ski instructor. He moved to Batavia, Ill. where he lived with his first wife and three children. He moved to Delmar where he worked for the NYS Senate in the journal clerk's office. After his retirement from NYS he worked, for a short time for IBA Molecular as a currier until illness forced him to stop. Mr. Redmond was an avid golfer as a member of Normanside Country Club and Western Turnpike. He was active in the Bethlehem Republican Party serving as a committee for many years. He also worked with the NYS anti-bullying in the workplace lobby after his retirement, a cause very close to him. He also was a friend of Bill W. and helped many people over the years. Mr. Redmond is survived by his wife, Catherine; his three children, Anthony and Amy of St. Charles, Ill. and Jonathan of Chicago. He is also survived by stepson and stepdaughter, Jason and Sarah Caterina; and his grandchildren, Tarah, Alec, Zoe, and Ian. Also his three brothers, Charles, William and Barry. Calling hours will be at the Applebee Funeral Home at 403 Kenwood Ave. in Delmar on Monday, June 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Applebee Funeral Home Tuesday at 10 a.m., burial to follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his mother. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Redmond requested contributions to the Wilson House, 378 Village St., East Dorset, VT 05253 or the Russell Refuge, PO Box 725, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. The Russell Refuge is an organization that rescues Jack Russell Terriers.
