Taylor, Robert J. Sr. MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Robert J. Taylor, Sr., 68, of Myrtle Beach and former ly of Ballston Spa, N.Y., died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in Myrtle Beach, from complications after heart surgery. Born in Troy, N.Y., May 2, 1945, son of the late John and Ann LaPietro Taylor, he was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy, and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Bob was a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal and later was self-employed as a general contractor. For several years Bob and his wife operated the clubhouse restaurant at Mechanicville Golf Club. Bob lived to golf and took great pleasure in arranging early tee times for his foursome. A diehard NY Giant fan and avid NY Yankee fan, he collected memorabilia for both teams. He was a people person who loved hosting parties for family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Carla Catman Taylor; daughter Tina; son Robert, Jr.; step-children Trista (Gary) Haydon and David Rockwell; grandchildren Karissa (Church) Heran, Zachary and Austin Church; sister Donna (David) Turco; aunts, Theresa and Gail Downing; uncle Richard Hawthorne; along with a niece, a nephew and several cousins. A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 5-7 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylerville. Remembrances may be made to a in fond memory of Robert J. Taylor. to leave condolences and for directions
