Merrigan, Lt. Col. Charles F. SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. Charles F. Merrigan, 97, beloved husband of the late Betty Merrigan and was preceded in death by his late son, Russell Merrigan, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. He is survived by his grandson, Matthew Merrigan of West Chester, Pa. and his niece, Kathy Cross of Nassau. He is also survived by several other loving nieces and nephews. Fran was born in Troy in 1916. He served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1964. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1952 as an electrical engineer. He was a longtime employee of the General Electric Company, also working on the NASA space program. Fran was a resident of Satellite Beach since 1977 and enjoyed golf, boating, flying as a licensed private pilot, organ club and talking to friends on his ham radio. He was a man of many achievements and led an interesting and accomplished life. We will miss him and remember him with fondness always. Interment will be held at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, 51 Belle Ave., Troy on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, Melbourne, FL 32904. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy.
