Charlie,
It seems like just yesterday we met in an online forum room. Talking about woodstoves, cutting down trees, and life in general. In the few short years I've known you, I must say I feel like we've known each other for a very long time. You are a wonderful person, one who loves life, is strong in your convictions and priciples, who loves your wife immensely, and treats friends and others with respect and dignity. I say you "ARE" these things, not "WERE" these things, because you ARE STILL ALIVE in Christ and in the hearts and minds who all have loved you and have called you a friend and a brother....and for that, I am thankful. I am glad to know that someday, in His Kingdom, we will meet again around the fire. May you have your rest in Peace, and we'll see you on the other side my friend.....

Maribeth, below is a copy of what I sent to two internet flying forums. I hope you find it appropriate. God Bless ... friend Tom
FYI: My good friend and beginner PPG pilot, Charlie Wolz, passed a week ago from what appears to have been natural causes. He had a history of heart issues and last Saturday (Feb 8, 2014) he told his wife Maribeth that he felt like he was getting the flu. Later he went outside to chore and she found him on the ground and there was little the 911 First Responders could do. Charlie was age 59.
He had been a contributor to several of the ultra lite flying forums including this one. Charlie had earned his P2 for paragliding. He had bought a Green Eagle trike but never got to fly it before he sold it. He never lost his dream of PPGing and at the time of his death, he had bought a PPG back pack outfit and hoped to get trained this coming Spring. He had built a nice grass runway on his rural south central NY acreage but never got to fly out of it.
With all the trouble Charlie Wolz had getting into the air, the months of non training and nonflying had turned into years. I once told Charlie that he needed to put his PPG training on a higher priority as he was losing valuable time in that life is so fragile and temporary and he could be die at anytime. He agreed with me and felt the urgency but he passed before he lived out one of his many dreams but he lived his life full and good and was a good caring and helpful man.
Thoughts and prayers please for his widow Maribeth Wolz. An online guestbook signing is available at
Charlie was a Believer so I hope our paths cross again someday and he and I will still fly together :).

Marribeth,
I know this is a tough time for you and your family, Charlie is a good man and willing to help anyone, anytime. I say "is" instead of "was" because I know he lives, his memory lives on, and he lives on, eternaly. I picked up on that when he called to order your wood cookstove. I knew within a few minutes that here is a very special man. We talked for hours. Charlie turned out have a Spiritual hunger for the Supernatural. I shared my testimony of how Christ had saved me from myself and given me a new life and a new hope. Charlie openly and willingly embraced what I shared and wanted the same assurances I have. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt he is flying in heaven now. I know that you'll miss your soul mate terribly. I have no answers for why things like this happen, I can only assure you that there is a friend that loves you as much as Charlie does. He is there with you now and will be there always as He died that you would live and abundant life with an unspeakable joy, as Charlie did. We share your pain in your loss, but we stand with you in life. Call me on me as your friend, as Charlie was my friend. Blessings on you and your family, Woody and Annette Chain
