Bie, John J. ALBANY John J. Bie, 84, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014. Born in Readsboro, Vermont, on August 10, 1929, he was the son of Juell and Ragna Bie. John grew up in Brooklyn and moved to this area in 1977. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He worked for the NYS Office of General Services for many years, retiring in 1999. Music was his passion, he played clarinet and saxophone. John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Else. John is survived by his great-granddaughters, Aria and Harper; grandchildren, Brittany (Anthony), Sarah (Kevin), Andrew, Jonathan (Samantha), Annie, and Peter (Holly); children, Cathleen Belschwinder (Michael), Steven Bie, David Bie (Julie), Lynne Bie, and Eric Bie. John had lived at the Teresian House in Albany for the last few years and had become part of their loving community. The family would like to thank the staff of Carmel Gardens at the Teresian House for their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the Teresian House. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions in memory of John may be made to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
