He was my guidance counselor at what was Overseas School of Rome (now the AOSR) when I was in the seventh grade during academic year 1964-1965. Our family lived that year in Rome as my late father, Dr. Charles F. Delzell, had a Fulbright Scholarship that enabled him to take himself and our family from Nashville, TN, for a year to Rome. I remember Yolles being quite helpful to me in my difficult transition from elementary to jr. high school. I also had some classes with his two sons, Peter and his older brother, John. I hope all his surviving family is doing well. I only learned today (24 August 2020) of his death and am sorry to learn of it. At least he had a long and productive life. I did not realize that he had been a Unitarian/Universalist. I have belonged to that denomination for close to forty years when I still lived in Tennessee. Please give my wishes to all who love and know him.

Mark and Pola were dear friends of our family. They and my parents met as young couples in Elizabethtown, NY and remained friends throughout their lives. I remember lots of fun times with the Yolles family. Mark always had a great idea/game whenever we visited and there were stimulating conversations around the dinner table. We kids, including my brother Rick, sister Kathy, and I, played with Jas, Peter, and Paul. Years later, when my husband Steve and I visited Rome, Mark and Pola took us in for a week and showed us all around that wonderful city. They were both so vibrant, so brilliant, so giving, and so very much fun! We always admired them. My parents, Dick and Lee Burt (who are both gone now also), loved them dearly.

A deeply caring, warm, and humourous man who had a great influence on me as my high school principal during my time in Rome. Deepest sympathies to the family.

I first met Mr Yolles in the early sixties. It was The Kennedy Era and an exciting and hopeful time. Like President Kennedy , Mr. Yolles was an exciting and vibrant man. There was always something interesting going on at The Yolles Homestead. I will miss, my friend, a highly intellligent and witty humanitarian. Thanks for turning me on to Lenny Bruce and Capture The Flag.

Mark was one of the best. Kind, funny, sensible, smart, worldly yet idealistic - a joy to have had as a friend and colleague.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I remember him well, and his family, too. His son Paul was my best buddy for years in elementary school in Rome. Mark was respected and admired at the school. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Mark Yolles was a kind, gentle and respecting man. Working for Mark for three years in Rome was the beginning of many delightful times with Mark and Pola. We have been blessed by his friendship. We pray for his sons and their family in their grief.

We met Mark and the lovely Pola in 1976 when we moved into their house in Delmar. They were kind and thoughtful people and our dealing with them were always rewarding. We became well aware of their activism and generosity the the community. Losing Mark creates a sad space in the hearts of many.

I will always remember your smile and good nature. You had a way of making us all feel we were heard and respected. You were more than our principal at OSR in Rome...you were our friend. May you your transition be peaceful.

My neighbor, my friend, my constituent has crossed over. The South End will surely miss this this gentle and caring soul. I offer my deepest sympathy to his family. Mark has been a solid citizen who would always have a kind word to share to make your day pleasant. I saw a dark cloud hanging over Elm Street and Trinity Place as Mark was leaving. I will light a candle to help guide his journey. Rest in peace Mark.

Mark, such a sweet, giving man who was ahead of his time. To me he was the Pete Seeger of Albany. I will miss him.
