WYNANTSKILL William V. O'Connor, 65, of Todd Drive, died Sunday, October 1, 2006 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. Bill was a man who journeyed through cancer and life with dignity, courage, grace and humor. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late W. Vincent O'Connor and Kathleen Dunn O'Connor. He was the husband of Margaret Hains O'Connor for 40 years. A longtime resident of Troy, he moved to Wynantskill 15 years ago. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, class of 1958 and Fordham University in 1962. Bill was owner of William B. O'Connor Church Goods, Inc. of Latham, the family business which started in Troy in 1921. He was a member of the National Church Goods Association, Eastern Church Goods Guild, Colonie Chamber of Commerce, Friends of 112th Street and active in the Archdiocese of New York Religious Education Conference. He was a former active member of St. Patrick's Church, Troy, where he served in many of their ministries. He was currently a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and its 8 o'clock Mass group. He was a volunteer driver for the Catholic Charities Transportation Program and a volunteer with Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. Bill was an avid runner and member of the Hudson-Mohawk Runners Club. He participated in many area races over the years, including the Troy Turkey Trot. Survivors in addition to his wife, Marge, include his children, Megan O'Connor-Hebert (Paul) of North Greenbush, Erin Bowens (Christopher) of Malta, Colleen Earley (Bartholomew) of Clifton Park, William J. O'Connor (Diane) of Ballston Spa and Kristin (Kree) O'Connor of Bloomfield, N.J.; four grandchildren, Emily and William Hebert, Grace and Mark Earley and Bowens twins expected early 2007; three sisters, Kathleen O'Connor (James Greismer) of Decatur, Ga., Margaret (Margy) O'Keefe (Robert) of Raleigh, N.C. and Maureen O'Connor (Peter Cotch) of Andover, Mass.; a brother, Lawrence O'Connor of Milton, Mass. Bill was predeceased by a grandson, Nathan Christopher Bowens, in December, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. Jude the Apostle Church, Brookside Avenue, Wynantskill, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday in St. Jude the Apostle Church.
