GOODBREAD MICHAEL EUGENE GOODBREAD, JR January 25, 1968 June 25, 2013 Michael was born in Nashville, TN. He graduated from Bishop Kenny High School in 1986 where he was an avid baseball player. He graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science in 1990 and was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated with his Juris Doctor with Honors from Stetson University College of Law in 1993. Michael spent his legal career in the Jacksonville area and was a partner at Fowler White Boggs P.A. in the areas of business and corporate law and was AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. Michael was a member of St. Matthew s Catholic Church, a loving husband, a devoted father, son and grandson. Michael is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, William and Anna Goodbread, his maternal grandfather, William Cole, Jr. and his mother in-law and father in-law, Elizabeth and Max Smith. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Lisa Naomi Rachel Goodbread, of Jacksonville, FL; his sons, Henry and James Goodbread of Jacksonville, FL; his parents, Michael and Connie Goodbread of Jacksonville, FL; his maternal grandmother, Marge Cole; his siblings and their spouses, Chase and Michelle Goodbread of Tuscaloosa, AL; Mandy and Mark Nesz of Smyrna, GA; John and Sarah Goodbread of Kennesaw, GA; his father in-law and mother in-law, Charles and Jenny Henry of London, England; his brother in-laws and sister in-laws, Steven and Anita Henry of London, England; David Henry of Newnan, GA; Alisa Henry of Newnan, GA; and nephews and nieces, Pierce, Peyton, and Layne Goodbread; and Samantha, Yvonne, Emily and Tyler Henry. Michael loved his Jaguars, his Seminoles, his Commodores and his baseball. He loved music over movies, the beach over golf. He loved his Big Green Egg smoker, and the longer it took the better. But more than anything, Michael loved his relationships. He built his life and law practice around them both. He was equally comfortable with family and strangers, and where mixed, made them all feel the same. Michael could point out humor where no one else could see it. He was the life of a room without having to be the life of the party. Michael was a joy to all who knew him. Michael s family will be receiving visitors on Friday, June 28th from 6:00pm-8:00pm where there will be a Vigil at 7:00pm at St. Matthew s Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32210. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 11:00am with a reception immediately following thereafter at St. Matthew s Catholic Church. The burial internment will be held at 2:30pm at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home-Cemetery, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Michael s name to be made to any of the following: the Goodbread Children Memorial Fund, Wells Fargo Bank, 4206 San Juan Dr., Jacksonville, FL 32210, DOSA Camps, 235 Marywood Drive, St. Johns, FL 32259, (www.dosacamps.com); and Lumen Entertainment, Inc., 231 N Laura Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 (www.lumen.tv). I am so sorry to hear about Michael's death through the Stetson School magazine. I met Michael in law school at Stetson, we wrote a couple papers together and we went to a Tampa Bay Bucs game and a spring training baseball game. He came over to my house after my second son was born while I was a first year law student at Stetson. I am 15 years older than Michael, and we shared a passion for sports, he was excited when sports t alk radio started in St. Pete. He was a really nice guy. Having just learned of Mike's passing, I'm still a bit shocked.
I haven't seen Mike in the far-too-many years since Vanderbilt, but my memories of his laughter and good nature are crystal clear. Mike was a great guy. One of the best. I truly feel fortunate to have known him.
I wish you, your sons and the rest of Mike's family peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of knowing Mike, as a fellow Floridian and classmate, at Vanderbilt. We then reconnected years later, as lawyers, through our work for Stetson, our law school. While we'd aged, Mike was still as sharp and personable as ever. I'm grateful to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the pleasure of being Michael's law partner for three years. He was a fine lawyer but an even finer person in so many ways. He had a true zest for life and other people. He will be missed. My heart goes out to Lisa and the boys and Michael's parents, who raised such a wonderful talented man.

Lisa, Henry, James and family,
The news of Michael's passing left me shocked and heartbroken. Having taught James for 4 years and having the privilege to know your family for the past 6 years, I have truly never seen a family so close, loving, and devoted to one another despite any obstacles thrown your way. Henry & James are amazing boys ... a true testament of their parent's unconditional love and dedication. Although Michael was taken far too soon, I know he gave you enough love and laughter to last a lifetime. He will no doubt be loving, guiding, and protecting you from heaven. God bless you all. I love you & will help in any way I can.
Sincerely,
Cleary

Mrs. Goodbread and family,
Words cannot express my sadness for your entire family. Remember Michael so well as a few years younger than me. Then my mom, Liz McGovern, reminded me that he was one of the kids that she taught Kindergarten and was in her first fifth grade class thirty plus yeas ago at CK.
Such a sweet family and my heartfelt blessings and sorrow for your loss.
Much love,

I had the pleasure of knowing Michael and working with him for four years. He was full of life and always seemed to have a smirk on his face that you couldn't help but smile at.
