Dear, dear, wonderful, wonderful Mack. I miss you so much already. From the first day I met you (and then for the next 25 years), you became my role model. I've only had four. Along with Dr. Lindsey, my Sunday School teacher Mr Winge, Nancy's Dad Mr Lynn, you four were all any new husband and father needed. You never knew you were my gold standard, because you weren't much about "talk". Instead, you quietly and humbly were more about the "walk". You were a true "Man's Man". To be in the Army, a man had to be tough. To play on the All-Army football, only the toughest of the tough. They could make a Hollywood movie about your and Harriett's 70+ year "Love Story". Although you were mighty as a rock physically, you treated her like a queen, with the gentleness and sweetness of Jesus. I watched from afar and from you I learned how I should treat Nancy. I remember how proud you always were of your family, and how they meant more to you than all of your accomplishments. I always thought your name was perfect for you, "Mack",like a Mack truck. I'd imagine you bursting through the line of scrimmage, just like a Mack truck, sending helpless defenders on the other team flying, as if hit by a truck. It's raining today, here in Texas. I'm glad. Seems fitting. It's pouring, in fact. The tears of all of us who will miss you so much, all the thousands and tens of thousands of lives you impacted, of the angels, and Jesus..who see how we are hurting. I love you, Mack.
