Our home was Marcus' home a way from home when he was in high school. He and Tim were such close friends and we considered him one of our family. We were so sorry to hear of his death. It was in our papers

I was close with Marcus in college years ago and recall his kindness, honesty, generosity, strength, intellect and spirit. Words are really insufficient to describe Marcus. My deepest sympathy to his family and to all those who knew and loved Marcus.

A celebrating Bear memory: Marcus & I flew an F-15E down to the Myrtle Beach airshow (sometime pre-1994).
When it was time to fly home in our Eagle, Bear, donning his g-suit at plane-side matter of factly looking up into the Carolina blue sky said: "Aztec, you do not have a hair on your a-- if you do not do request and fly an unresricted climb. If you do not fly it I will not fly with you again."
Tall words from a WSO, even if I liked flying with him. So on takeoff leg when at 500 kts. we started flying the jet straight up, I glimpsed him turned in his rear cockpit seat looking rearward between the twin tails of the airplane as the people on the beach rapidly turned into small dots.
I had made Bear happy. He sighed. "Aztec, I love this job."

Bear: it was never a job, but being crewed with you meant it was always fun.

I know that of all the things Bear did in this life it was the roles of Husband and Dad that gave him the greatest satisfaction and thrill.

You're Still An Eagle. Missed, not gone.

Marcus was one of the truly good guys in the world. During our high school years I always considered him not just a good teammate, but also a good friend. It was great seeing so many people attend the services Tuesday to honor Marcus. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with Beverly and her sons.
