My thoughts are prayers are with the Tolbert family on their loss. Stephen and I worked together at the South Campus for almost 10 years before I moved to the FCCJ Nassau Center in Yulee in 1994. I looked him up every time I visited Souh and we got to see each other 2-3 times a year. I was just asking about him last week. He was a good man with a deep side to him but also a great sense of humor. I will miss him along with many others. God bless. Don Hughes

Dear Jean, Stephen II, Reginald, Penelope, Marvine, Rose Marie, and Stephens relatives, and friends,
My heart is heavy as I write this message of sympathy to this prominent pioneer Jacksonville family.
The house on 15th Street is gone. So is Mr. and Mrs. Tolbert, "Ken",and "Bert". Now Stephen has joined the Tolberts heavenly home, however, fond memories of happy times, at the " White House" on 15th street remain.
To name a few:
Playing basketball with Stphen and Ken in the front yard
Parties given by Mr. and Mrs. Tolbert.
Listening to accounts of the family trips with seven people in one car.
I could go on and on with memories.
Stephen was a great husband, father, and Brother. He faced life eternal with courage and dignity. He was always concerned with the welfare of others.
We are thankful that God, with his infinite mercy, ended Stephens suffering and called him home.
May you rest in peace and light perpetual shine on you.
