MCENTEE Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com Peter John McEntee, age 57, went ahead of us to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, June 24, 2013, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Pete was born June 15, 1956 in Babylon, New York to Irish parents, Peter James and Joan (Crotty) McEntee. Pete is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Elizabeth (Crosby) McEntee; his sister, Patricia Sobczyk (Rick); 2 brothers, Brian McEntee (Teresa) & James McEntee; 3 children, McKenzie Joan Portela (Olain), Peter Jon McEntee, & Sean Michael McEntee; 2 step children, Sean Kristopher McGee (Rachel) & Lauren Elizabeth McGee; granddaughter Jenna White-Mankoski; grandson Weston Lynnwood McGee; nieces Megan McEntee & Erin McEntee; nephews Sean Patrick McEntee & James McEntee; and lifelong friend, Barry Frankel. Pete was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather (Pop), brother, friend and neighbor. He was truly a remarkable man who lived life with honesty, respect and integrity. Pete was strong in every way! He had a big giving heart, endless charm, a quick entertaining wit & a sharp intelligent mind. Pete was the quintessential extrovert who loved to laugh loudly and entertain anyone & everyone. A sports fanatic to the bone, his favorite teams were the NY Yankees, NY Jets, NY Islanders, FSU Seminoles, Notre Dame Irish and most recently the CSU Rams & CO Eagles. Growing up, Pete played football & basketball during his junior & high school years; he was skilled in anything athletic. He graduated from Michigan State University. He enjoyed golfing with his father, friends & co-workers. He coached baseball when his children were young & was a volunteer for the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and the Larimer County Food Bank. A skilled fisherman like his father & siblings, he taught all the children how to fish. Pete is remembered as a gifted musician and drummer who played in bands during his teens & twenties; he taught himself both acoustic & electric guitar and sang bass in the Fruit Cove Baptist Church choir. Pete always had great rhythm; he was such a good dancer & a fun partner! Later in life, he grew to love & appreciate exploring the mountains and National Parks throughout the U.S., eventually moving west to Colorado after his retirement from Citicorp, where he worked as Vice President in IT, after 28 years of dedicated service. He embraced the western lifestyle, enjoying horseback riding, hiking, and beautiful sunsets in the Rocky Mountains. We honor Peter John McEntee's life well-lived & cherish the countless special memories shared with us, as we say just a temporary goodbye to this great man until we greet him again in Heaven. An Irish Blessing: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 1, 2013 at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home. At the family's request, there will be no public viewing. Pastor Edward Barclay of Hope Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
