Obituaries from Two Days Ago

Davis, Julia F.
DAVIS Julia F. Davis, age 83 passed away Friday, December 12, 2014 at Senior Care Center in St. Mary's. Julie was born in London, England on October 14, 1931. She immigrated to the states by way of a Second World War sea transport troopship known as the General Rose. She processed through Staten Island when she arrived in the United States as she was still a UK citizen and later became a citizen of the United States. She volunteered with American Red Cross and was part of an all-volunteer team that met all C-141 aircraft returning from Vietnam with badly wounded GI's at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Later in life, she became a first responder for the American Red Cross working hurricanes as the first ones on the scene delivering hot food to the survivors of the storm. Because of Julia's health condition, she was unable to continue volunteering and relocated from Hiawassee, Georgia to Camden County. In her spare time, she was a very active volunteer and became a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Jack P. Davis; four children; two sisters in London, England; one sister in Australia; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A private committal will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
