DETTLINGS Al Dettlings passed away peacefully on December 2, 2012 at Hospice of NE Florida McGraw Center. Al was a proud American who served his country in the United States Navy early in his life. After the Navy, he began working for Pitney Bowes Inc. as District Director for over 30 years of service. Upon retirement from Pitney Bowes, Al donated much of his spare time volunteering for American Red cross, offering a helping hand for those in need for over 20 years. He was an extremely generous man who loved his family unconditionally. Al greeted each new day thankful for his many blessings. Aside from his philanthropic responsibilities, Al loved to spend time out on the water deep sea fishing and traveling the world with the love of his life for 50 years Shirley. Al leaves behind his loving wife Shirley Dettlings; Son, Albert Dettlings (wife Linda); Daughters Antoinette Kellner, Michelle Dettlings and Cheryl Clark; 3 Brothers Charles, George and Richard Dettling; 6 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; 4 great granddaughters; 5 great grandsons; and many other family members. A private memorial service will be held. A celebration of his life will take place in the near future.
