CLARENCE BOWEN

BOWEN Clarence Edward Hoss Bowen, Jr., 81, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012. He was born December 24, 1930 in Rome, GA to the late Clarence & Ethel Bowen. Clarence moved to Jacksonville in 1948 and had lived here for 64 years. He served in the U.S. army from 1950 to 1953 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War for two years. Clarence is predeceased by his former wife, Peggy Bowen; maternal grandparents, Agnes & Ed Gentry; brothers, J.D., T.O., Bill and Richard Bowen; sons, Edward and Sammy Bowen; son in law, Billy Simmons. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sue; daughters, Trudy (Dave) Means, Rhonda (Rob) Hatten, Vickie Simmons; grandchildren, Daniel and Brian Hatten, Marttie, Logan and Breanne Simmons, Lauren Means; great grandchildren Owen Ostwald-Hatten, Brantley Simmons, William Marttie (Billy) Simmons III; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2 at 11am at First Coast Christian Center, 2724 New Berlin Road, with Pastors Perry Fruscella and Sherri Sorber officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at the church from 6-8pm.
