ZIMMERMAN Emily Zimmerman was born October 27, 1923 in New York City and died July 16, 2013 in Jacksonville, FL. Raised in New Jersey she graduated from Columbia High School in South Orange, NJ. She enlisted in the Marine Corp on her 20th birthday in 1943. She served as airplane mechanic in WWII and the Korean War. Moving to Jacksonville, FL in 1953 she spent 27 years with Prudential Insurance Co. Her college career started at New York University, she graduated from Florida Junior College, took Prudential sponsored courses and got her BS degree from University of North Florida at 65. Following retirement she traveled extensively visiting over 25 countries and many states. She was a participant in the Women Marines Association. She served as treasurer for many years. She retired to Cypress Village where she fished every day, ran the in house TV, and was a participant in a variety of activities. She worshipped at Cypress Village Christian Worship. Services are July 31 at 11:00a.m. in Egret Hall at Cypress Village, Rev. Carol Lavery presiding. Memorials may be made to University North FL or Cypress Village, Scholarship Fund.
