Henry (Buba) Edwards III

EDWARDS Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com On Wednesday, February 12, 2014, Henry Edwards, III ( Buba ) departed this life at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Henry was the oldest of ten children born to the late Henry Edwards, Jr. and Altamease Pea Edwards. He received his education within the Duval County elementary and secondary schools. Buba was a kind hearted, gentle soul. He was generous to a fault; and he loved his family. In the early years of his life he sang lead soloist for the Gospel Crusaders group in the greater Jacksonville area. Many churches were blessed by his rich singing voice. He loved music and proudly played the tuba for Northwestern Junior-Senior High School band, the Home of the Yellow Jackets . His favorite songs were I am sending up my timber and The Old Rugged Cross. In his teenage years, he also took on work outside of the home to assist the family economically. He continued to aid the family financially until his demise. In 1966, he joined the Marines and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was injured April 28, 1968 while serving his country and was awarded two purple hearts for his bravery during his tour. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp in 1970. He leaves to mourn eight siblings; Barbara Edwards Jones, Richard Stanley Edwards (Georgetta), Patricia Althea Howard (Calvin), Lynette Denise Edwards, Bruce Annual Edwards, Toney Michael Edwards, Sharon Dale Hunt & Eugene Barry Edwards. The youngest brother, Spencer Matthew Edwards preceded him in death. In addition, he leaves behind a matriarchal figure, Viola Wilder, a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins & friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the NORTHSIDE CHAPEL of MARION GRAHAM MORTUARIES, 1504 Gandy St. Mr. Edwards will rest in the mortuary on Tuesday, February 25th, for visitation of friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
