JACK ATKINSON

ATKINSON Jack W. Atkinson died peacefully, November 27, 2012 at the age of 87. Jack was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in September 16, 1925 and he worked for the Post Office on Kings Road for over 35 years and was known as Hollywood Jack. Jack loved the community theater where he played many roles growing up and as an adult. Jack served in the US Navy during WWII and he had great honor and respect for his time in the Navy and loved his country. He received a Purple Heart and many more awards while serving his country. Jack had four things in life that he cherished more than anything; it was his family, the military, his love for the Florida Gators and the love of going to church. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Mary F. Atkinson, a daughter, Laura Mobley, a son-in-law, Miles Mobley, Jr. and his two grandchildren, Derryn and Korrie Mobley that he loved so very much. Funeral services will be held, Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00am in Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Stuckey officiating followed by interment in the Jacksonville national Cemetery with Navy honors on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 10:30am. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Jack will be missed but not forgotten. We love you PaPa.
