COOPER James McKinney Cooper, proud Florida Gator fan, successful businessman, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away February 5, 2014. Born in Lakeland, Florida on July 23, 1939 to Shelby and Naomi Cooper. A long-time resident of Jacksonville, he was a Graduate of the University of North Florida and a Veteran of the United States Army. His parents and his brother, Jerry L. Cooper, preceded him in death. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Caren, and will be missed by their precious little dog, Cisco ; he is also survived by their five children, Philip, Kimberli (Owen), David, Valeri (Alan) and Jimmy; ten grandchildren, Tashana, Ashley, Devin, Christopher, Kendall (Ryan), Wesley (Ashley), Brittney (Josh), Cameron, Anthony and Jesse; and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Charlene; and several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband and adventurous companion to Caren for 35 years. Jim and Caren traveled extensively and enjoyed the company of friends and family, the exotic wines and gourmet foods of Europe. Jim excelled in business and he inspired those around him to reach for the stars and capture their dreams. Some of his happiest days were spent at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium watching his beloved Gators. His love for the game was infectious and his friends and family will always think of Jim whenever they see blue and orange, or hear the fight son, see the Gator chomp, or watch his Gators take the field. We all thank him for the precious memories. Those who leave Love behind, never really leave.
