James R. Jack McClellan(1925 - 2014)

MCCLELLAN James R. Jack McClellan, Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, died Saturday April 5, 2014, one month shy of his 89th birthday in Jacksonville. Dad was born May 4, 1925 in Egypt, Georgia to James N. and Eva Mae McClellan. While growing up in Savannah, Georgia, Dad was active in scouting attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, boxing and playing baseball in high school. Dad was a member of the greatest generation, an American patriot who proudly served his country in the US Army 3rd Armored Tank Division during World War II. After the war he was employed by Atlantic Coastline Railroad, moving his family to Jacksonville with the merger of Seaboard Coastline which later became the current CSX. Dad was a Railroad man for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his son James Rick Jr., his parents, and his sister, Eula Wise. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Bobbie who was by his side for 65 years, his children Danny McClellan (Jan), Ellen Singleton (Daryl), Rob McClellan, Judy Purgason (Pat), Joel McClellan (Taraneh), Laurie McClellan, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his sister Annette Thornton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an active member of Arlington Baptist Church, 6009 Arlington Rd., senior trailblazers, a 32nd degree mason, and avid reader, enjoying traveling, fishing, golf and anything sports. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at Arlington Baptist Church with Pastor Eddie Lockamy officiating. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday April 9. The family will receive visitors on Monday April 7, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville, Fl. 32211 In lieu of flowers, Dad would prefer that you help others as he did throughout his life, by making a donation in his memory to N.
