James Robert J.R. Dennington(1917 - 2014)

DENNINGTON Dennington, James Robert J.R . Dennington, 96, also known as Shorty, passed away on Friday January 10, with his loving family at his side. J.R. was born on July 10, 1917, in Quanah, Texas and was the last surviving son of the late, William and Bertha Hackney Dennington. He was a veteran and served as a fighting Sea Bee in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for Phillips Petroleum as an oil man before moving to Bonham, TX where he worked at Southwest Pump for over 20 years. He was instrumental in the building of Sam Rayburn Library in Bonham, TX. He was a Master Carpenter, talented musician, farmer and an avid traveler. He is preceded in death by his wife Maebelle Dennington and ex-wife, Dean McCarter, four brothers and one sister. J.R. moved to Jacksonville in 2004 with his only Daughter, Pamela Dennington Ricks of Jacksonville. Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Ricks of Jacksonville; grandson, Kevin Milner of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Kimberley Nichols of Beach Park, IL, Tina Vista of Jacksonville, and Tara Myers of Raytown, MO; 7 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Wednesday January 15, 2014, at 2pm in the Willow Wild Cemetery, Bonham, TX, with Rev. Rex Jackson officiating.
