JESSIE CARMICHEAL

CARMICHEAL Jessie James Carmicheal, born July 28, 1948 in Atlanta, GA, passed away on October 30, 2012 in Orange Park. Jessie Carmicheal and Su-Mei Kuo were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1971 and from this union two daughters were born, Sha-Ling Carmicheal and Mai-Ling Thomas. Also in this union, he adopted Wei-LingVann (Mark) and Tamika Huckleberry (Rae). Mr. Carmicheal went to school in Smithville and Leesburg, GA, where he graduated from Leesburg High School in 1964. He graduated from the University of Hawaii in 1979 with an associate's degree in Marketing, Jones College in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management, and Central Michigan University in 1989, earning his master's degree in Business Administration. His accomplishments included Central Intelligence Agency Training in 1967 while in Chu-Lai, Vietnam; Military Police Training in 1982 in Brunswick, GA; Military Police Training in 1982 in Kings Bay, GA; United States Army Military Police School in 1983 at Fort McClellan, AL; United States Marine Corps for Corrections in 1982, Marine Corps Institute, Washington, DC; Naval Investigative Service in 1983; Marshals Federal Law Enforcement Training in 1984 in Glynco, GA; Naval Institute of Correctional Counselor in 1984; and Military Police School Corrective Counseling in 1984 in Fort McClellan, AL. His career included the United States Navy, which he joined in 1964 in Albany, GA, straight out of high school. He retired in 1985 at NAS Jax. During his Navy career, he was stationed on the USS Shelton from 1965-1967 in San Diego, CA, completed two tours in Danang and Chu-Lai, Vietnam from 1967-1969, and was stationed at various other bases around the world. Upon retiring from the Navy, Jessie joined the US Postal Service in Jacksonville in 1986, where he was a mail handler. He retired in 1996. He was a member of the Baha i Faith. He was also a member of the VFW, DAV, NFR and NRA. His hobbies included electronics, coins, weapons, collecting music and collecting watches. His favorite quotation was I am what I am and that is all that I am, Popeye the sailorman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lula Bell Jolly; a loving and devoted wife, Kathy KC Carmicheal; and his grandson, Alec Carmicheal. In addition to his children, Jessie is survived by grandchildren, Danielle Aubrey Prim, Anthony AJ Thomas Jr., Aysia Huckleberry and Avri Thomas; great grandchild, Kamora Prim; sister, Vivian Walker; nieces, Shana Woodfine and Khara King; great nephew, Brian King Jr.; great nieces, Kaitlyn King and Madison the Divine Ms. M and a host of relatives and friends. He also leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted companion, Delores Goodloe. Memorials can be made to the and DAV. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
