JOHNNY COOK

COOK Lt. Col. Johnny Roy Cook, 84 Of Orange Park, FL passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 14, 2013. John was born in Ft. McCoy, Florida on September 22, 1928 to the late William Henry and Lily Tarver Banks Cook. After his graduation from high school, John attended the University of Florida for 2 years. He joined the Air Force and found his love of flying. At age 23 he safely landed a B-29 with one wheel up. He flew 29 missions in the Korean War and flew 4 missions in the Vietnam conflict. He retired from the Air Force after 19 years of service and entered the civilian world, flying for many years as the Chief Pilot for Royal Crown Cola. John was an avid golfer, bowler, and gardener and was a member of Orange Park United Methodist Church. He was also a Master Mason of the Marston Lodge of Ft. McCoy and was a member for 61 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles, Oliver and Duncan Cook, and sisters, Elizabeth and Frances Cook. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Cook, son, Mike and his wife Judy and granddaughter, Kathryn Cook. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2051 Park Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073. A reception will follow at Orange Park Country Club at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Parkinson Disease Association, P. O.
