JOSEPH PICA

PICA Retired LCDR Joseph Nicholas Pica, 81, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2013, while surrounded by his loved ones. He was born October 25, 1931 in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Nicholas Anthony & Helen Marut Pica. Joseph served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years and was honored to have served during the Korean and Vietnam War era s. He then pursued a second career as an Accountant at Florida Community College of Jacksonville, for an additional 17 joyful years. Often referred to as PAPA JOE or POPS, he was deeply loved for his core family values, generosity and humor. He enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife and family, sharing in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren and making plans for future family gatherings. He is preceded in death by his sister Arlene Pica Zafrano of Trenton, NJ. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Diane D. Pica; 6 sons and 6 daughter- in-laws; daughter and son-in-law; brother and wife, Ronald & Regina Pica (St. Aug., FL); foster sister, Evelyn Weber (Toms River, NJ); 17 grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews. Memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Catherine s Church at 12:00 P.M. (noon) located at 1649 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073. Interment with military honors will follow in Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.
