Ophelia Phillip Akins

AKINS FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Ophelia Phillip Akins will be held 2 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2007 in the Rufus E. Payne Memorial Chapel of the mortuary, Rev. Minerva Bryant, officiating. Mr. Akins, age 97, of 1932 W. 25th St. passed away peacefully July 24, 2007 in a local hospital. He was a native of Deland, FL, having resided in Jacksonville, FL most of his life. Mr. Akins was a member at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church. He was employed with American Bakery until he retired after many years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Willie Lee Turner Akins. Survivors include his daughters, Mses. Margaret Rhodes and Minister Jacqueline Akins Neeley (Steve); 7 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sister, Ms. Helen Young; brother, Isaiah Akins; a number of other relatives and many friends. Mr. Akins will rest in the mortuary for visitation FRIDAY from 5 PM until 8 PM and Saturday from 9AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
