RICHARD JOHNSTON

JOHNSTON Richard Edwards Johnston, age 89, passed away at his home on April 2, 2013. Richard was born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Corp in the CBI during WWII. Following the war, he earned a BA from the University of Iowa. Richard relocated and worked for the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. He then began a 20 year career with FCCJ retiring as Director of Vocational Education in 1994. Since retiring Richard has thoroughly enjoyed traveling, sailing on his sailboat and lounging at the beach. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Juana Dixon Graham Johnston; sons, Dr. Stephen (Kathy) Johnston, Brad Johnston; 4 daughters, Jan Johnston, Jodi Johnston, Sue (Dan) Roberts, Sara (Thomas) Gallagher; step-sons, Joseph D. (Trina) Graham, Rhian H. (Angela) Graham; brother, Stanley (Flo) Johnston; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. His granddaughter, Kelsey Kite, preceded him in death. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at Christ the King Anglican Church followed by burial at Craig Memorial Park with military honors.
