HUCKABY Ruth Chandler Huckaby, 90, of Atlantic Beach, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2013. She was born March 1, 1923 in Carbon Hill, Alabama to the late Elizabeth Sims Chandler and William Edward Chandler. She was raised and attended school in Harlan County, KY, graduating from Harlan High School in 1940. Between 1942 and 1945 she worked for Derby Foods as an ambassador for Peter Pan Peanut Butter, reading at children's hospitals. She had a career in early childhood education for many years and retired from FCCJ North Campus in 1999. She was also the past president of Florida Association of Children under six. Ruth was a lifelong Methodist and active in Swaim Memorial United Methodist Church for many years. Ruth is survived by her children, Elizabeth H. Stalvey (Ron), Sherry Ruth Huckaby, Ann C. Huckaby and Floyd Curtis Huckaby, Jr.; grandchildren, Vivian Jill Upton, Laura E. Sperry, Suzanne Nessler, David Stalvey, Curt Davis, Corey Huckaby, Kyle Huckaby, Cara Huckaby, Rachel Crystal, Aaron Crystal and Nathaniel Huckaby; great grandchildren, Nathan and Frances Sperry, Evan Burrell, Nicholas Nessler, Grace Stalvey and Kaydence Aiken. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Floyd Curtis Huckaby, Sr. and daughter Joy Frances Seely. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2013 in Oaklawn Cemetery.
