Sam DiSalvo(1920 - 2013)

DISALVO Sam DiSalvo of Orange Park, FL passed away at his home Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the age of 93. Sam was born on November 22, 1920 in New York, NY to parents Philip and Concetta DiSalvo, the youngest of four siblings. He honorably served his nation in the United States Air Force at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. After WWII he continued as a civil servant for 49 dedicated years, spent at Naval Air Systems Command, Washington D.C. and later as a logistics specialist at NAS Jacksonville. Upon his retirement, he continued his tradition of service as a senior volunteer for Orange Park Medical Center for more than 11 years. He was a member of The American Legion and a lover of all things mechanical, airplanes, sailboats, and working on his 1967 Mustang. Mr. DiSalvo will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was affectionately known as Good Neighbor Sam, for the joy he took in helping others. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Charlotte L. DiSalvo; 2 daughters, Constance Prestin (Carl) and Debra Brake; 3 grandchildren: Cristina, Nicole, and Lauren; 2 great-granddaughters, Carleigh and Camryn; and his first great-grandson expected to arrive next month. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
