CAUSEY Wilbur Edward Causey, 96, passed away December 10, 2012. He was born to the late Annie Rouse and Robert Lee Causey in Dooly, Georgia. At a young age he moved to Florida, attending high school in Jacksonville, where he became an All-American football player, earning a scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. He was a U.S. Navy Intelligence agent During World War II, manager of the City Service Oil Company for 35 years, and for 25 years in business with son Gary Edward Causey. He served over 75 years as deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was the oldest living member of Fort Caroline Road Baptist Church. His passion was gardening and, as a member of the North Florida Day Lily Society in Jacksonville, he won numerous awards for his Day Lilies, including Best in Show. He is preceded in death by wife, Evelyn A. Causey of 65 years and son Robert W. Causey. He is survived by two sons, D. Lee Causey (Anita) and Gary E. Causey (Elizabeth), 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He later married the late Chris McNeil. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm, Friday, December 14, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd N., Jacksonville.
