William Austin

AUSTIN William (Bill) Gene Austin, 75, passed away in Jacksonville, FL, November 28, 2011. He was born the youngest of 6 children on January 1, 1936 in Fayette City, PA. Bill served in the United States Air Force for 12 years where he met his first wife, Mary Lou Austin in Detroit, MI. After serving in the Air Force, Bill worked as a Manager for Michigan Bell, Southern Bell and AT&T. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Austin, is survived by his loving, second wife, Deborah Austin, sons Bill (Mary) of Detroit, MI and Mike (Theresa) of Jacksonville, Fl along with 7 grandchildren that he adored; Sisters Gertrude Fulmer and Deloris Miller of Newell, PA. Bill is also survived by many friends who loved him. Bill was an honest, loyal and kind man who enjoyed playing golf, was a diehard FSU, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Detroit Tigers fan. Most of all he enjoyed coaching youth baseball. He coached the 1982 OPAA 14 & 15 year old all-star team to a second place finish in the Little League World Series. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events as well. Bill will be greatly missed by those he touched throughout his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill Austin's name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 10 am on 12/13/2011 at Celebration Lutheran Church, 810 Roberts Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32259 with Pastor Jason Lane officiating.
